Brazen Theft of Historical Treasure!

Post by Storyteller »

The sunken Spanish Galleon holding an estimated $20 billion in gold, silver, and jewels has suffered a well orchestrated robbery. Despite the exact location of the wreckage being kept mostly confidential, it's unsurprising that the coordinates have gradually become more well known as Columbia, Spain, Indigenous groups, and even US Salvage companies are trying to claim rights and jurisdiction.

The robbery involved having ship supplies, rumored to be celebratory champagne, laced with a sedative. The robberies then managed to avoid detection by the security on the ship, and absconded with an estimated 700 pounds worth of gold. The security is being questioned as part of an ongoing investigation.

At this time it remains likely this was more than a simple 'slip of the tongue' that allowed these miscreants to steal historical artifacts for purely selfish reasons, and more likely to be an inside job given the surrounding facts of the heist.

So far there are no suspects involved. A number of small craft along the coast of Columbia were physically damaged and then set ablaze the night of the robbery, all scenes are part of the investigation.

"Beyond the base value of the gold, it's historical worth is priceless. It's part of a historical find. It's terrible to know there are people so greedy, so depraved, so desperate, that they would risk killing a ship full of people with spiked champagne just to enrich themselves. First the Louvre, now this!" said one of the historical researchers involved with the program. "It's times like this that I wish those old stories about cursed treasures were true."
